Planning a visit that suits the drive
Because it is a drive rather than a quick trip down the road, we plan around it. A first appointment can pair an assessment with a discussion of the options, and a fitting can be arranged so you leave with the aids set up and the routine explained. If a small adjustment is needed later, we sort out whether it needs a visit or can be handled another way.
The main hearing aid styles
Which style suits comes down to your ears and your routine. Behind the ear and receiver in canal styles are easy to handle and cover a wide range of hearing levels, custom in-the-ear styles are moulded to your own ear, and completely in canal aids are the least visible. Rechargeable models and Bluetooth streaming to a phone or television are available across most current aids.
How a fitting works
At the fitting we program the aids to your own hearing levels, check the physical fit so nothing whistles, and fine tune while you listen to real speech. We then run through inserting, removing, cleaning, charging and pairing the aids, and write the important parts down so you are not relying on memory on the way home.
Aftercare when you live a drive away
Ongoing care covers reviews to adjust the programming, replacing domes, tubes and wax filters, servicing, and repairs under warranty. Because you are travelling in, we are practical about it, grouping what we can into each visit and keeping trips to what is genuinely needed.
Cost, private funds and concessions
We set out the pathways before anything is ordered. Eligible pensioner concession card and DVA card holders may access services under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program; eligibility criteria apply. The Hearing Services Program page covers that route. Otherwise hearing aids are purchased privately, and some private health funds pay a benefit, so it is worth asking your fund what your level of cover includes.
