Mount Morgan sits a short drive from our Rockhampton rooms, which makes fittings, adjustments and quick fixes easy to keep on top of. CQ Audiology also holds a visiting clinic in town, so hearing aids can be fitted and serviced close to home.
A short trip for fittings and adjustments
Our Mount Morgan clinic is at 41 Morgan Street. Visiting-clinic days vary by location. Please call (07) 4848 6528 to confirm the next available clinic in Mount Morgan before travelling. When something needs a tweak between clinic days, our City Centre Plaza rooms in Rockhampton are close by.
The styles available
Four broad styles cover most people, and which one suits depends on your ears and your routine.
- Behind the ear (BTE), with roomy controls that are easy to handle.
- Receiver in canal (RIC), slimmer and discreet, with the speaker in the canal.
- In the ear (ITE), moulded to your own ear with nothing sitting behind it.
- Completely in canal (CIC), the smallest and least visible, though it asks for steady fingers.
You can choose rechargeable aids or replaceable batteries, and most current models stream calls and television audio to the ears over Bluetooth.
Matching a device to your life
The choice comes out of your assessment plus a conversation about your week, because a device that does not fit your life ends up in a drawer. How much sound you need, your ear canal shape, how your hands manage small tasks, and where you struggle most all steer the decision.
Your fitting appointment
Allow about an hour and bring someone whose voice you hear often. We program the aids to your hearing levels, check the physical fit, fine tune to real speech, and show you how to insert, clean, charge and pair them, with the key steps written down.
Caring for your aids at home
A few habits keep aids working well. Wipe them with a dry cloth at the end of each day, keep them out of the bathroom and away from heat and hairspray, store them dry with the battery door open or in the charger overnight, and keep batteries and aids out of reach of grandchildren and pets. Between visits we replace consumables, service the aids and arrange repairs under warranty.
Funding and concessions
We set out the pathways before anything is ordered. Eligible pensioner concession card and DVA card holders may access services under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program; eligibility criteria apply. Our pensioner hearing aids in Mount Morgan page and the Hearing Services Program page explain that route. Otherwise aids are bought privately, and some private health funds pay a benefit.
