Audiologist Monto Residents Can Reach: The Biloela Visiting Clinic

No CQ Audiology clinic in Monto. The nearest is our Biloela visiting clinic, roughly 95 km north. Plan the trip and confirm clinic dates first.

If you are looking for an audiologist Monto residents can reach without a full day on the road, the closest CQ Audiology clinic is the visiting clinic in Biloela, held at Ace Medical Centre, 48 Grevillea Street, Biloela QLD 4715. CQ Audiology does not have a clinic, office or regular presence in Monto itself. Biloela is roughly 95 kilometres north along the Burnett Highway, a drive of about an hour and a quarter for most people, and the main CQ Audiology rooms are further north again in Rockhampton.

Visiting-clinic days vary by location. Please call (07) 4848 6528 to confirm the next available clinic in Biloela before travelling.

Being straight about where we are

A page headed with a town's name can give the impression that a service is based there. We would rather you knew the real picture before you plan your day. There is no CQ Audiology room in Monto, no Monto clinic day and nobody from the practice based in the North Burnett.

What we can offer Monto households is a periodic clinic in Biloela, the permanent rooms in Rockhampton, and a reception phone line for questions in between.

The drive north on the Burnett Highway

Monto and Biloela are joined by the Burnett Highway. The run is roughly 95 kilometres, and most drivers allow about an hour and a quarter each way. Biloela sits at the junction of the Burnett and Dawson highways, so if you already head there for other business, the clinic can be folded into the same trip.

For anyone who would rather go straight to the main rooms, Rockhampton is much further north. That makes for a much longer day, although the Rockhampton rooms keep regular weekday and Saturday morning hours, which can mean more choice of times.

A few things make the day run more smoothly:

  • Call before you leave home to confirm the Biloela clinic date and your appointment time.
  • If long highway drives are not your favourite, ask a family member or neighbour to come along. A second person in the room also helps you remember what was discussed.
  • Bring any hearing devices you already use, with chargers or spare batteries.
  • Jot down the places where listening feels hardest, such as the showground pavilion, a busy cafe or a phone call from the grandkids.

Your audiologist Monto options, explained

The Biloela visiting clinic

This is the nearest option. Appointments are held at Ace Medical Centre on Grevillea Street when the audiologist is in town. Because dates move around, the clinic should always be confirmed by phone first. You can read more about that clinic on our Biloela audiologist page.

The Rockhampton rooms

The main rooms are at T33 & 34A, City Centre Plaza, 24 Fitzroy Street, Rockhampton QLD 4700. They are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 12pm. Earwax removal by microsuction is offered at Rockhampton, so if that service is on your list, the city rooms are where to book it.

Contact between appointments

If a device is playing up or you have a question about your results, ring reception on (07) 4848 6528. Some queries can be sorted over the phone, and anything that needs an in-person look can be booked into the next suitable clinic.

A district shaped by dairy, cattle and timber

Monto was laid out in the 1920s under a Queensland Government land settlement scheme, and for decades it was a dairy town. At its peak the district supported more than 400 dairy farms, a number that fell sharply after deregulation in the 1990s. Beef cattle grazing has long been a mainstay across the North Burnett, alongside timber and other agriculture, and the Monto Dairy Festival still celebrates the town's dairy heritage.

That kind of working life brings a fair amount of machinery noise: milking equipment, tractors, chainsaws, stock trucks, workshop tools and firearms. None of it is unusual on the land, and it makes hearing protection made to fit worth asking about. Custom earplugs are shaped to your own ears, and you can find out how they are made on our custom earplugs page.

Cania Gorge National Park, about 25 kilometres from town by road, is known for its sandstone cliffs, caves and walking tracks. When you describe your everyday listening to the audiologist, include the outdoor settings too.

What the appointment covers

A visit usually starts with a conversation about your hearing, your work and the situations you find hardest. From there, the audiologist carries out the testing that fits your needs and explains the results in plain language. Depending on what you and the audiologist discuss, services may include:

  • A diagnostic hearing assessment, described in more detail on our hearing tests page.
  • Hearing aid fitting and follow-up appointments if you decide devices are worth considering.
  • A tinnitus assessment if ringing or buzzing in the ears is part of the picture.
  • Children's hearing tests, pre-employment and industrial hearing assessments, and custom earplug impressions.

Not every service runs on every visiting day, so ask when you book which ones will be available at Biloela.
